The
London to Whitesburg loop (in yellow on map above)
The loop is 221 miles according to Mapquest. My Sportster has the
smallest gas tank that Harley makes, 2.1 gallons. I filled up in
London, Hyden, Whitesburg, Pineville, and then London again. You will
probably do better than that. Cars should have no problem. I carried an
extra gallon of gas, but didn't have to use it. Gas stations exist at
all of the travel segment ends and starts and there are motels at all
of the larger towns. There were festivals in three or four of the
towns, so I didn't get to film all of the downtowns. [This was in late
September, the World Chicken Festival in London, the Mountain Heritage
Festival in Whitesburg and others were going on.] In order to get to
and from the loop and travel along the route, I rode 375 miles in two
days, a lot on a Sportster. I hope you enjoy your trip.
In mounting my luggage, I broke the internal leads to my microphone
without knowing it. I was not able to record any audio and didn't find
out till I got back home. Therefore, I have added some regional music.
